La Marina lies at the southern end of Elche municipality, between Santa Pola and Guardamar del Segura. It is a small coastal community surrounded by sandy beaches, dunes, pine forests and the rural landscape of the Camp d’Elx.

First of all: which La Marina?

There is one important distinction. La Marina belongs to Elche municipality, whereas Urbanización La Marina belongs to San Fulgencio.

The two areas are close together, but they provide very different residential environments. La Marina in Elche is a small coastal settlement beside natural beaches and dunes. Urbanización La Marina is a much larger and more international residential development.

La Marina Beach

La Marina Beach lies between El Pinet and Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo and is approximately 1,100 metres long. Golden sand, a broad dune system and extensive pine woodland are its defining features.

The area forms part of the Natura 2000 network and walking paths cross the dunes, making it possible to explore its Mediterranean plants and wildlife.

The lack of large-scale development immediately behind the beach gives this section of coastline a particularly natural feel.

El Pinet

To the north lies El Pinet, another beautiful sandy beach backed by dunes and pine trees.

The natural landscape continues towards the Santa Pola salt lakes, creating an extensive coastal environment rather than a series of densely developed resorts.

Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo

South of La Marina is Les Pesqueres-El Rebollo, another largely natural beach extending towards Guardamar del Segura.

Sand dunes and pine forest dominate the landscape and human intervention has remained relatively limited.

La Marina itself provides everyday amenities including restaurants, cafés, supermarkets and a pharmacy.

It is not a large town with extensive shopping streets, and that is part of its charm.

Nature between Santa Pola and Guardamar

La Marina occupies an excellent position between two very different natural environments. Towards Santa Pola are wetlands and salt lakes, while towards Guardamar the dunes and pine forests continue along the coast.

Walking and cycling opportunities are also improving. The Vinalopó Sur trail connects La Marina and El Pinet with the salt lakes, Sierra del Molar and rural areas of southern Elche.

The Camp d’Elx

Head inland and you quickly reach the Camp d’Elx, the rural countryside surrounding Elche.

Farmland, palm trees, irrigation channels, fincas and small settlements create a completely different landscape from the coast.

Within minutes you can travel from Mediterranean dunes to traditional agricultural countryside.

Elche nearby

Elche city is within easy reach and provides major shopping areas, schools, hospitals, restaurants and cultural facilities.

This is a significant advantage for permanent residents: you can enjoy a quieter home near the sea without giving up access to the facilities of a large city.

Alicante-Elche Airport is also conveniently close.
