The Costa Blanca with Kids – The Best Family Outings and Activities

A vacation or living on the Costa Blanca with children certainly doesn't mean you have to spend every day just by the pool or on the beach.

From large water parks and zoos to go-karting, castles, boat tours, nature reserves, and interactive museums: both the Southern Costa Blanca and Northern Costa Blanca offer plenty of activities for children of all ages.

This makes the region attractive not only to vacationers, but also to families who want to emigrate to Spain with their children.

Below you'll find our favorite kid-friendly outings on the Costa Blanca.

Water Parks and Amusement Parks

1. Terra Mítica in Benidorm

Near Benidorm is Terra Mítica, a large theme park based on historical Mediterranean civilizations.

The park combines:

• roller coasters;
• water attractions;
• family attractions;
• children's attractions;
• shows;
• and thematic areas.

For families with older children and teenagers, this is one of the most famous amusement parks on the Costa Blanca.

Since attractions and opening days may vary by season, it's a good idea to check the current calendar in advance.

2. Aqualandia Benidorm

Near Benidorm, you'll also find Aqualandia, a large water park with attractions for all ages.

For older children, there are fast slides and spectacular water attractions, while younger children can enjoy calmer areas.

A visit is especially recommended on warm summer days.

If you're staying in Altea, Villajoyosa, Finestrat, or Benidorm, you're relatively close by.

3. Aquopolis Torrevieja

On the southern Costa Blanca, Aquopolis Torrevieja is one of the most popular family outings.

The water park has various slides and children's areas and categorizes visitors based on height. Children under one meter tall are admitted free of charge; of course, separate height and safety rules apply to various attractions.

For 2026, the regular season runs through September 6.

For families staying in Torrevieja, Ciudad Quesada, Rojales, or Guardamar, it’s an easily accessible day trip.

4. Aqua Natura Benidorm

Aqua Natura is located next to Terra Natura in Benidorm.

This makes it a great option if you want to visit both a wildlife park and a water park during your vacation.

There are swimming pools, water slides, and areas for younger children.

Be sure to check out the different ticket combinations in advance, as combined tickets for Terra Natura and Aqua Natura are frequently offered.

5. Pola Park in Santa Pola

In Santa Pola is Pola Park, an amusement park that's especially fun for younger children and families.

The park has various attractions, such as merry-go-rounds, bumper cars, small roller coasters, and other family-friendly attractions.

That makes Pola Park a completely different kind of outing than Terra Mítica.

For families with young children, it might actually be more comfortable because it's more compact.

For example, combine it with a trip to the beach, a visit to the harbor, or a walk through Santa Pola.

Go-Karting and Action

6. Go-Karts in Ciudad Quesada

For kids who want a little more action, Go-Karts Ciudad Quesada is a fun outing.

The karting center is officially located in the municipality of Rojales, near Ciudad Quesada.

There are two go-kart tracks: one for adults and older children, and a smaller track for children. According to the latest information, children can drive go-karts starting at about 5 years old, depending on the category.

In addition to go-karting, the facility also offers other activities and dining options.

That makes it suitable for families with children of different ages.

7. Multi-Adventure at Río Safari Elche

At Río Safari Elche, you'll now find not only the animal park but also a separate Aventura Park.

In 2026, it will cover approximately 10,000 m² and feature, among other things, climbing courses, inflatable play structures, and go-karting. The adventure park is a separate attraction and, according to the park, is open mainly on weekends and holidays.

This allows you to combine different activities depending on the children's ages.

Zoos on the Costa Blanca

8. Río Safari Elche

Río Safari Elche is located between Elche and Santa Pola.

It's a popular family outing with a variety of animal species and lots of palm trees.

In the summer, you can combine your visit with a trip to the Splash Park.

Among other things, that body of water will have the following in 2026:

• 20 water slides;
• 7 swimming pools;
• children's areas;
• a lazy river;
• and a tanning bed.

Please note: Admission to Splash Park is charged separately in addition to admission to Río Safari.

9. Terra Natura Benidorm

Terra Natura Benidorm is a large animal park that recreates various natural habitats.

The park strives to make barriers between visitors and animals as inconspicuous as possible.

This is appealing to children because there are several places where you can get relatively close to the animals.

A visit can be combined with a trip to the adjacent Aqua Natura.

10. Mundomar Benidorm

Mundomar focuses primarily on marine mammals, birds, and other animals.

The park is also located in Benidorm, making it easy to combine with a stay on the northern Costa Blanca.

For families who want to visit multiple parks, it's a good idea to check in advance for combination tickets and opening days.

Dinosaurs and Special Outings for Kids

11. DinoPark Algar

DinoPark Algar is located near the famous Algar Falls.

For kids who love dinosaurs, this is a fun place to visit.

The park combines life-size dinosaur models with play and educational elements.

This can be a great way to combine it with other activities in the area, especially for young children.

For example, you can create a day from:

DinoPark + Guadalest

of:

DinoPark + Fuentes del Algar.

12. Museum of Illusions Alicante

In Alicante, you'll find the Museum of Illusions.

The original text referred to it as “Museo de la Ciencia,” but that is not the official name.

The museum features approximately 700 m² of interactive illusions, optical phenomena, scientific principles, and puzzles.

Children can experiment with, among other things:

• light;
• shadows;
• perspective;
• optical illusions;
• gravity illusions;
• and interactive puzzles.

That also makes it a good option for one of those rare rainy days.

Alicante's official tourism organization explicitly lists the museum as one of the city's child-friendly museums.

13. Castillo de Santa Bárbara with Kids

The Castillo de Santa Bárbara in Alicante is also a fun place to visit with kids.

The enormous castle sits atop Monte Benacantil and quickly feels like an adventure to young visitors.

You can walk around among:

• old walls;
• cannons;
• gates;
• towers;
• and scenic overlooks.

From up here, you can look out over Alicante, the harbor, and Playa del Postiguet.

Combine it with a visit to the old town and an ice cream along the Explanada de España.

Nature with Children

14. The Salt Lakes of Torrevieja and La Mata

The Torrevieja and La Mata Salt Lakes Nature Park is a fun way to introduce children to the natural environment of the Southern Costa Blanca.

Various species of birds live there, and flamingos are often seen.

For hiking with children, the area around the lagoon at La Mata is particularly interesting.

Please use the official hiking trails and respect the fact that this is a protected nature reserve.

15. Taking the little train to the salt lakes

From Torrevieja, you can also take a sightseeing tour to the salt flats.

For younger children, a train ride is sometimes more appealing than a long walk.

Along the way, visitors learn about the salt lake and salt production.

16. El Recorral near Rojales

El Recorral is located near Ciudad Quesada.

This nature and recreation area is ideal for a simple family outing.

There, you can:

• hiking;
• cycling;
• picnicking;
• play;
• and walking the dog.

It's not a big amusement park, which is exactly why it's a great choice if you're looking for a quiet afternoon.

17. Reina Sofía Park in Guardamar

Parque Reina Sofía is located in Guardamar del Segura.

For families with young children, this is one of the easiest free outings in the region.

There you will find:

• lots of greenery;
• ponds;
• hiking trails;
• playgrounds;
• ducks;
• peacocks;
• and other birds.

From there, simply continue walking toward downtown, the boulevard, or the beach.

In the summer, there’s often extra evening entertainment in the area as well.

18. Montgó Natural Park

The Parque Natural del Montgó is located between Dénia and Jávea.

This is a beautiful nature reserve, but I wouldn't generally say that “the trails are suitable for children.”

There are several routes, and the difficulty varies considerably.

If you have young children, it's best to choose a simple, lower-altitude route.

The climb to the summit is completely different and much more challenging.

It is best to avoid the hottest hours of the day during the summer.

19. The Fountains of Algar

Near Callosa d'en Sarrià are the famous Fuentes del Algar.

The area consists of waterfalls, streams, and natural pools.

This can be a wonderful summer outing for families.

Please keep in mind that:

• rocks can be slippery;
• the water might be cold;
• it gets very busy in the summer;
• and not every place is suitable for very young children.

Water shoes can come in handy.

20. Guadalest with Kids

Guadalest might sound like a cultural outing above all else, but kids often find it surprisingly fun.

The village is spectacularly situated on a cliff, and you walk through a passageway in the cliff toward the historic district.

There is a castle, several scenic overlooks, and a number of small museums.

You might want to combine a visit to Guadalest with a trip to DinoPark or Algar for a full day.

Beach Days with Kids

21. La Mata Beach

Playa de La Mata is long and wide, making it popular with families.

Along the beach, you'll find restaurants and a promenade.

The big advantage of a long beach is that, away from the busiest areas, it’s often relatively easy to find a little more space.

22. Beaches of Guardamar

Guardamar is also very popular with families.

Here you'll find kilometers of sandy beach.

Well-known beaches include:

• Playa Centro;
• Beach of La Roqueta
• Moncayo Beach;
• and several quieter beaches toward the dunes.

Combine a trip to the beach with a visit to Parque Reina Sofía for a simple family day out.

23. Levante Beach in Benidorm

Playa de Levante is one of Benidorm's most famous beaches.

The beach has plenty of amenities and is located right on a lively boardwalk.

That's convenient for families who like to have everything close by.

Those looking for peace and quiet will probably prefer to choose a different beach.

24. Playa de la Fossa in Calpe

Playa de la Fossa is located in Calpe, right at the foot of the famous Peñón de Ifach.

Along the beach, you'll find a promenade lined with restaurants and shops.

This makes it convenient for families who like to combine a trip to the beach with dining and other amenities.

On the water

25. Boat Trip to Tabarca

One of the best family outings is a boat trip to Tabarca.

Boats depart for the island from Santa Pola.

On Tabarca, you can:

• swimming;
• snorkeling;
• take a walk through the village;
• discover small coves;
• at lunch.

For children, even just the boat ride often feels like an adventure.

Go in July and August—preferably early in the day—because the island can get very crowded in the middle of the day.

26. The Kayak and the SUP

You can rent kayaks and SUP boards along both the northern and southern parts of the Costa Blanca.

The rugged coastline around Jávea, Moraira, and some of the bays near Orihuela Costa offers particularly great opportunities.

Of course, when it comes to children, weather conditions, swimming ability, and age are important factors.

It is best to book through a provider that offers life jackets and guidance.

Mini-golf and accessible activities

27. Greenlands Sport Club near Algorfa

There are various recreational activities to enjoy in the area around Algorfa.

For families, mini-golf can be a fun outing for a morning or an evening.

I would be cautious about using the quick link for specific Greenlands facilities if they aren't checked regularly. Activities and operations are subject to change.

A simple phrase like “mini-golf and recreational facilities in the Algorfa area” will remain relevant for longer.

28. Bowling

Bowling is especially useful for:

• teens;
• evenings;
• extremely hot afternoons;
• or bad weather.

You'll find a variety of entertainment venues around Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Alicante, and larger shopping centers.

For example, combine bowling with shopping on the Costa Blanca.

Fun Activities for Teens

With teenagers, you probably don't need to go to a playground every day.

Activities that often go over better with older children include, for example:

• cards;
• water parks;
• jet skiing;
• kayaking;
• soups;
• snorkeling;
• amusement parks;
• escape rooms;
• bowl;
• shopping centers;
• and adventure parks.

There is a wide selection, especially around Torrevieja, Orihuela Costa, Alicante, and Benidorm.

For teenagers, an afternoon of shopping can sometimes be just as appealing as a theme park.

On the southern Costa Blanca, for example, the following are popular:

• La Zenia Boulevard;
• Habaneras in Torrevieja;
• L'Aljub in Elche;
• and downtown Alicante.

On the northern Costa Blanca, you can head toward Benidorm/Finestrat or larger towns such as Dénia, among other destinations.

Not every outing has to cost money.

Some fun free or nearly free activities include:

• Reina Sofía Park in Guardamar;
• El Recorral;
• the beach;
• Torrevieja's boulevard;
• Alicante's Old Town;

• the colorful houses of Villajoyosa;
• Altea's old town;
• local playgrounds;

What to do with kids when it rains?

Even on the Costa Blanca, the weather can sometimes be bad.

Here are some examples of fun things:

• Museum of Illusions in Alicante;
• movie theater;
• bowling;
• shopping centers;
• indoor play centers;
• escape rooms;
• or a hearty lunch.

For example, the Museum of Illusions in Alicante is open daily, and children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult during their visit.

What to do with young children?

For toddlers and young elementary school children, we would focus primarily on activities that don’t make the day too long.

Consider:

• Reina Sofía Park;
• beach;
• Pola Park;
• smaller areas of Aquopolis;
• Río Safari Elche;
• a tourist train;
• mini-golf;
• or a short boat ride.

A full day at an amusement park in 35-degree weather can be pretty intense for a four-year-old.

What to do with older children?

Starting around upper elementary school and the teenage years, the range of options becomes much wider.

Then, for example, the following also come into play:

• Go-Karts in Ciudad Quesada;
• Terra Mítica;
• larger water slides;
• adventure parks;
• kayaking;
• snorkeling;
• walks;
• amusement parks;
• and shopping.

Go-Karts Ciudad Quesada offers various karting categories for children, teens, and adults, allowing families with members of different ages to enjoy the experience together.

Southern Costa Blanca with Kids

Those staying on the Costa Blanca South can enjoy, among other things:

• Aquopolis Torrevieja;
• Río Safari Elche;
• Pola Park;
• Go-Karts in Ciudad Quesada;
• salt lakes;
• Tabarca;
• Reina Sofía Park;
• El Recorral;
• Alicante;
• and several large beaches

within a relatively short driving distance.

Good places to stay for families include, for example, Ciudad Quesada, Rojales, Torrevieja, Guardamar, Santa Pola, and Orihuela Costa.

Northern Costa Blanca with Kids

The Costa Blanca North is a better choice if you like to combine amusement parks with mountains and rugged natural scenery.

Here you'll find, among other things:

• Terra Mítica;
• Terra Natura;
• Water Nature
• Aqualandia;
• World of Monkeys
• DinoPark;
• The Springs of the Algar;
• Guadalest;
• Montgó
• Calpe;
• and several beautiful bays.

Good places to explore this part of the region are Benidorm, Altea, Calpe, Moraira, Jávea, and Dénia.

Living on the Costa Blanca with Children

For families who want to emigrate to Spain, the wide range of activities is certainly enjoyable, but the quality of daily life is ultimately more important.

When looking for a home with children, we therefore also consider:

• sports clubs;
• playgrounds;
• facilities;
• distance from friends;
• accessibility;
• beach;
• medical care;
• and what there is to do outside of the summer season.

A vacation spot can be wonderful in August, but for a family that lives there year-round, it also needs to be a pleasant place to live in January.
